EPFO Big update: Many members of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) have been patiently waiting for the interest to accrue in their accounts. Now, EPFO has announced a substantial update for these customers.
Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) members have been anticipating the accumulation of interest in their accounts for a considerable period.
For these customers, EPFO has announced a major update. The interest amount in EPFO members’ accounts could be deposited by July. An official communication from the Ministry of Finance is expected to be issued shortly.
The Central Board of Trustees (CBT), the highest decision-making authority of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), sanctioned an interest rate of 8.25% for the fiscal year 2024 back in February.
Despite this decision, an official notification from the Ministry of Finance is still pending. Sources indicate that delays were caused by the upcoming general elections. It is now anticipated that this process will be finalized by July.
How will we know that the money has arrived?
Regularly checking your EPF account passbook will inform you whether the interest on your EPF has been credited or not. You can verify your EPF passbook through conveniences like missed calls or SMS services on the EPFO Portal.
