Form 26AS is a type of tax statement document. It is also called tax credit statement form. In simple words, through this form you can know how much income tax you have paid on what kind of income in the entire financial year. Know what information is there in its 9 sections.

If you are a taxpayer then you will know about Form 26AS, but if you are going to file income tax return for the first time then you must know about this form. Form 26AS is a type of tax statement document. It is also called tax credit statement form. In simple words, through this form you can know how much income tax you have paid on what kind of income in the entire financial year. 9 sections of the form contain important information
1- In Part A of Form 26AS, details of TDS deducted from your income are recorded.
2- Part A1 contains information about TDS not deducted due to filing of Form 15G or Form 15H.
3- Part A2 contains details of TDS deducted from your income if you have sold any immovable property.
4- Part B contains information about TCS deducted from your income.
5- Part C contains information about advance tax or assessment tax paid every quarter.
6- Part D contains details of tax refund received during the relevant financial year.
7- Part E contains information about large transactions or payments in stock market, mutual funds etc.
8- Part F contains information about TDS deducted on purchase of any property in the relevant financial year.
9- Part G contains information about the transaction in which TDS should have been deducted, but was not.

Form 26AS is linked to your PAN number. In such a situation, you can view or download it online anytime on the Income Tax website with the help of PAN number and password. Know the process of downloading it.
- First of all go to the Income Tax website https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/. Here on the right side you will find the login option. Click on it.
- Here enter PAN number or Aadhaar number as user ID and enter the password and click on Continue.
- After this, the option of e-file will appear at the top of the page, in which you will see two options. First Income Tax Returns and second Income Tax Forms.
- As soon as you click on Income Tax Returns, you will see the option of View form 26AS. After this you will see a disclaimer, click on Confirm in it.
- After this you will have to give consent to view and use Form 16 / 16A on the TRACES portal.
- If you go down and look at the page of the TRACES portal which is open in front of you, you will find Click View Tax Credit (Form 26AS) to view your Form 26AS written. Click on it.
- Here you will get the option to view and download the form. After downloading, you can easily save it.
