Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, is experiencing rainfall levels surpassing previous records. Schools in Mumbai and many other cities have been closed due to heavy rainfall.
IMD has raised alarms over intense rainfall expected in Mumbai. Reports indicate a high tide of about 4.40 meters in the sea around 1:57 PM on July 8. As a precautionary measure, all BMC schools, government schools, private schools, and colleges in Mumbai have declared a holiday. Notably, several educational institutions in Mumbai function in two sessions. Consequently, schools in Mumbai will remain shut for both sessions today due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Schools Closed in UP: Yellow alert for rain in many districts of Uttar Pradesh
It has been raining heavily in many districts of Uttar Pradesh for 4-5 days. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 10 districts including eastern UP. At the same time, light to moderate rain has been predicted in more than 40 districts. Classes up to class 8 have been postponed in all schools located in Bareilly, Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Schools will remain closed here till July 9 (UP School Holidays). An order to keep schools closed can be issued in other districts also in view of the rain.

A red alert has been issued for heavy rains in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. In view of the rain, many district magistrates have ordered holidays in schools and Anganwadi centers. The Dehradun District Magistrate has canceled the leave of important employees and officers of all departments related to disaster and relief work in view of heavy rains in the monsoon season. The Char Dham Yatra has also been affected due to rain in the hilly areas.
