OnePlus is allegedly developing an AI feature enabling users to generate text summaries from voice recordings. Excitingly, India is one of the countries where this feature might be introduced first.
OnePlus is bringing a remarkable AI feature that will transform voice into text. Reports indicate that OnePlus is working on an artificial intelligence (AI) feature allowing users to generate text summaries from voice recordings. This feature was seen in the latest version of OxygenOS, OnePlus’s custom skin for Android. It reportedly supports various audio formats. At present, the feature is not available, and beta program participants cannot test it. Interestingly, India is one of the first countries where this feature may be launched.
OnePlus phones will get AI voice recording summary feature
In fact, Android Authority spotted this under-development feature on Oxygen OS 14.1. The feature is not currently enabled and the publication discovered it during a teardown of the company’s software. OnePlus is said to be working on a sound recorder that uses the AI summarizer feature that the company introduced earlier this year and was seen on the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open.
File size and format of the recording
The strings of code also give some clues about the alleged feature. For example, the AI voice recording summary feature will support several audio file formats including MP3, AMR, AWB, AAC, and WAV, according to the string “convert_error_format”.
According to the strings discovered by the publication, the file size of the recording must be smaller than 500MB, and the length of the recording must be less than five hours for the feature to work. Also, it seems that very short voice recordings will not be used to create summaries.
It can be brought with a paid subscription
Furthermore, the strings of code highlight that there will be a limit on the number of summary generation tasks that can be initiated simultaneously by the user. There will also be a daily limit, which is not yet known. These criteria could mean that there is a server-level limit for these features. It could also be offered with a paid subscription.
The feature will come to these countries first
The publication has also discovered strings of code mentioning the feature on Android 15 Developer Preview 2. These strings did not give much information about the feature, but mentioned the places where it could be launched first. According to the report, three languages are reportedly mentioned – Chinese, Hindi and English – which suggests that the AI voice recording summary feature may first come to China, India and the US.
