Anganwadi Update: Chaired by Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant, a review session of the Women and Child Development Department was conducted at the Secretariat on Friday. In the meeting, the Chief Secretary instructed to prioritize the construction of drinking water and toilet facilities, as well as electricity connections, at Anganwadi centers.
The Chief Secretary, in the meeting, issued instructions to the department to improve and refine the ongoing activities with ConFed and to explore alternative options. He directed strengthening the departmental arrangements and emphasized ensuring both the quantity and quality of nutritional supply.
The benefits offered under the departmental scheme should be transparently provided to women and children. The Chief Secretary emphasized equipping active female workers at Anganwadi centers with smartphones or tablets for effective online monitoring.
Digitizing the daily timetable and establishing WhatsApp groups at each Anganwadi center to engage parents of children is essential. Comprehensive data should be compiled for children attending Anganwadi, encompassing health records and parental details.
Directives were issued to spread awareness about the significant Prime Minister’s Matru Vandana Yojana and extend its outreach to the population. It is essential that every eligible beneficiary avails the advantages of this scheme.
Moreover, specific attention should be paid to the PM Janman Yojana, while efforts are made to enhance the resilience of Anganwadi centers.
The Chief Secretary has directed efforts towards resolving pending cases in the Women and Child Development Department and reducing the average processing time in e-filing.
Furthermore, there has been a push to increase the loan limit in the Enterprise Promotion Scheme and boost its promotion. Instructions were provided to publish a book featuring success stories to encourage more women and self-help groups to take advantage of it.
The Chief Secretary proposed tree planting activities at every Anganwadi center and underscored the importance of water conservation efforts. Additionally, children at Anganwadi centers would be educated about the significance of water conservation and tree planting initiatives.
Present at the meeting were the Chief Secretary Mohan Lal Yadav from the Department of Women and Child Development, Director of Integrated Child Development Services, OP Bunkar, Additional Director Bindu Karunakar overseeing women’s empowerment, and other officials.
