New Sim Replacement Rule: There’s a major mobile phone-related news update for you. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has announced a significant decision. A new regulation concerning your SIM card will be implemented starting July 1. Let’s quickly brief you on this.
It will take time to port the SIM
According to the new rules of TRAI, if a user has to port his SIM, he will first have to submit his application and then he will have to wait for some time. Due to this new process, it is necessary for the users to verify their identity and other information properly. According to these new rules, the process of mobile number portability has been made even more strict so that fraud can be avoided.
Now you will have to wait for so many days
Earlier, if your SIM card was stolen or damaged, you would get a SIM card immediately from the store, but now its locking period has been increased. Now users will have to wait for 7 days. Only after this, users will get a new SIM card. According to the new rule, people who have swapped their SIM cards in the recent past will not be able to port their mobile number.
Customers will be able to do this after 7 days. That is, after the change in MNP rules, you will get a new SIM card only after the next seven days. Apart from this, in the new rules, a user will not be able to get multiple SIMs with the same ID.
SIM card will be available after verification is complete
These changes have been made because in recent times, there has been a sharp increase in the incidents of fraud, in which people’s SIM cards were ported by misusing their information. With the implementation of the new rules, users will get an OTP for verification of their information, which they will use during the porting process.
Users may face some inconvenience with this new method, but TRAI has implemented it keeping their security in mind. With this change, mobile users will have to be more careful and they will have to be more alert about the security of their SIM card and personal information.
Now users like Airtel, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio need to be alert. A notification was issued by TRAI in March regarding this. People’s information will be safe with this rule.
