Yogi Adityanath has announced the completion of the Ganga Expressway by the end of this year. The Ganga Expressway is expected to reduce the travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj to about 5 hours from the current time of about 11 hours. The expressway is being constructed under the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).
UP CM Yogi Adityanath has announced the completion of the Ganga Expressway by the end of this year. India’s third longest Ganga Expressway will span 594 km across the state and connect the eastern part of UP to the western part.
CM Yogi reviewed the expressway
CM Yogi held a high-level meeting to review the construction work of the new expressway, which is expected to serve as the main road to reach Prayagraj for the Kumbh festival to be held early next year. Yogi Adityanath has set a deadline of December 2024 for the completion of the expressway.
Uttar Pradesh is going to get four new link expressways. The new link expressways will connect the Purvanchal Expressway and the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, while the Ganga Expressway will connect Farrukhabad and Jewar airports. The two other link expressways to be built are the Chitrakoot Link Expressway and the Gorakhpur Link Expressway.
UPEIDA is doing the construction
The expressway is being constructed under the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). Once the construction work is completed and opened for use, this expressway will become the longest 6-lane expressway in the state.
Distances will be reduced
The Ganga Expressway is expected to reduce the travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj to about 5 hours, while it currently takes about 11 hours. The design speed of the expressway will be 120 kmph, while the travel speed will be 100 kmph.
Starting from Bijauli village on the Meerut-Bulandshahr highway and ending near Judapur Dadu village on NH 19 in Prayagraj, this expressway will pass through more than 500 villages in 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
