This change comes as part of the bank’s recent update to its UPI-related policies.
HDFC Bank, a leading private bank in the country, has announced changes to its rules related to UPI transactions starting from Tuesday. Beginning June 25th, HDFC Bank customers will no longer receive notification alerts for small UPI payments, as per the bank’s recent notification. According to the new guidelines, notifications will not be generated for transactions below ₹100 or receipts below ₹500.
Email alerts issued
HDFC Bank has made changes to its UPI-related rules to streamline communication. Typically, most UPI apps already send their notifications. However, customers need not worry as the bank continues to maintain its email notification service.
This means that even if you send or receive amounts less than 100 rupees or 500 rupees respectively, you will receive an email notification, provided your email ID is linked. Users who have already shared their email IDs with the bank receive alerts related to UPI transactions.
How to associate email with account
Linking your email ID with your HDFC Bank account requires you to first visit https://instaservices.hdfcbank.com/?journey=107&source_type=103. Afterward, enter the mobile number registered with your bank account. Verify your identity by entering your date of birth or PAN number and click on Get OTP. Once the OTP is confirmed, you will be asked to provide your email ID for linking. Simply enter your email ID to complete the linking process with your HDFC Bank account.
How much does HDFC Bank charge for SMS?
According to HDFC Bank’s website, there has been a change in fees for Insta Alert services via email and SMS from January 1, 2022. If you were paying Rs. 3 per quarter for the Insta Alert SMS service, now you will only need to pay Rs. 0.20 + GST per SMS. Meanwhile, the email alert facility will continue to be provided free of charge.
