DA Hike: The central government is gearing up to deliver a substantial gift to its employees, showcasing its steadfast dedication. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also preparing to provide a significant gift to the state’s employees.
The state government has officially declared a 4% hike in Dearness Allowance for its employees. This means that the money has been deposited into different bank accounts starting Wednesday, well before the June salary payout. Employees of the state government are visibly content with this development.
The presentation of this year’s budget in the legislature includes a proposal to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees by 4% from May onwards. This DA, aimed at offsetting inflationary pressures, will be applicable to both serving and retired employees. Mamata Banerjee had previously directed the state government to commence the DA payments from May 1 for its employees.
Originally, the payment was slated for June 1. However, after careful consideration, it was decided that the enhanced Dearness Allowance would be disbursed starting April 1, not May 1. Following the Lok Sabha elections, an electoral code of conduct was enforced, after which a notification was released by the Finance Department.
Just to inform you, the Dearness Allowance (DA), which is an adjustment for the cost of living, has been extended in the month of April. Last year, before Christmas, Mamata Banerjee attended an event in Kolkata where she announced a 4 percent increase in DA for all state employees. The Financial Department had issued a notification regarding this development.
Furthermore, the budget has introduced a 4 percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA), which has been well received by a specific category of government employees. Beginning April, state government employees are now receiving a 14 percent DA increment. Consequently, the disparity between Central government and state government employees has narrowed to 32 percent.
This decision is expected to greatly benefit employees. Government officials are expressing considerable satisfaction with this move.
