Under the 7th Pay Commission, the government has declared a hike. There will be a 4 percent raise in Dearness Allowance for employees and a 4 percent hike in Dearness Relief for pensioners.
Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has presented a major gift to the state government employees. The CM has announced a 4 percent increase in Dearness Allowance, effective from January 2024. This hike will benefit 4.71 lakh employees and 4.73 lakh pensioners across state service, panchayat service, and other categories.
Under the 7th Pay Commission, the government has declared an increment. Employees are set to get a 4 percent increase in Dearness Allowance, and pensioners will receive a 4 percent rise in Dearness Relief. The revised salary might be credited to accounts from next month. Should the enhanced Dearness Allowance be disbursed in August, employees will receive 6 months’ arrears in three installments.
How much will the government pay as dues
For the 6-month DA arrears, the Gujarat government needs to disburse a total of ₹1,129.51 crore to the employees. The payment will be made in three installments, meaning the amount will be credited to the employees’ accounts in three stages. This will ease the government’s financial burden and ensure that employees and pensioners receive their due arrears.
Dearness allowance was also increased for July
Earlier in February, the Gujarat government announced a 4 percent increase in Dearness Allowance for state employees effective from July 2023. This hike benefited 4.45 lakh employees and 4.65 lakh pensioners. The increased DA from July 2023 was released in three installments, with salaries for the period from July 2023 to February 2024 being paid in three phases.
Significantly, with the full budget for the financial year 2024-25 being introduced, there is an expectation among central employees and pensioners for a DA increase in July. The government raises the Dearness Allowance twice a year to help employees and pensioners combat inflation.
