PM Modi has received a new proposal related to DA arrears and DA hike in July. Government employees may get good news.
7th pay commission DA Hike: Modi Government 3.0 is set to present its first full budget in the month of July. Many employee organizations and unions have written letters to PM Modi appealing to release the pending dearness allowance. Now the question is whether central employees and pensioners will get these 18 months of Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears suspended before the Corona epidemic? After the return of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government to power, another proposal has been sent to the Center to release this DA arrears stopped during the COVID-19 epidemic.
Letter written to PM Modi
Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary, Joint Consultative Mechanism, National Council (Staff Side) for Central Employees has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi. In this letter, an appeal has been made to the PM to release the arrears of dearness allowance of 18 months suspended before the Covid pandemic. In the letter written to PM Modi, it is written that as the Secretary (Staff Side) of the National Council (JCM), it is my duty to draw your attention to some major issues which are going on in the minds of government employees and pensioners.
In this letter, along with the release of pending DA arrears from PM Modi, emphasis has been laid on those 14 demands which have been demanded for a long time.
DA was stopped during COVID-19
Let us tell you that the government increases the dearness allowance of its employees every six months under the 7th Pay Commission. But during the Corona epidemic i.e. in the beginning of the year 2020, the government had stopped it citing financial instability. Dearness allowance was stopped from January 2020 to June 2021. The government usually increases dearness allowance twice a year i.e. in January and July. But the Modi government did not increase the DA for 18 months and now for a long time, central employees have been continuously demanding its release.
Pankaj Chaudhary, who was the Minister of State for Finance in the Modi government 2.9 tenure, had said in the Lok Sabha last year (2023), ‘…the arrears of DA / DR, which mostly relate to the challenging financial year 2020-21, are not considered possible due to the negative fiscal impact at the time of the pandemic in 2020 and the fiscal spillover beyond the financial year 2020-21 due to the financing of welfare measures implemented by the government. ‘
How much can be the increase in DA
Let us tell you that in January 2024, the Finance Ministry had increased the dearness allowance of central employees by 4 percent. After this, the dearness allowance of central employees increased to 50 percent.
This time also it is expected that the dearness allowance can increase by 4 percent. That is, if the monthly salary of an employee is Rs 50 thousand, then his dearness allowance will be Rs 2 thousand. After the increase in DA and salary in July, many allowances of central employees will increase and this will definitely be a big relief in this era of inflation.
